Welcome to the new site. We can call it…a Craft Blog. The goal here is, first, to keep a record of the work that comes out of the studio. And second, to keep you (the furniture-adoring public?) informed about the different processes that develop each piece. We have lots to cover, because it seems that everything made in the shop requires its own special procedure. The ‘Craft Blog’ will be updated nearly weekly, so stay tuned, and thanks for stopping by.

Robert Howard Woodworker is a one man studio featuring sculptural furniture and unique woodwork, with an emphasis on individuality, providing an alternative to mass-produced furniture.

For the past 30 years, my clientèle has been very supportive. When asked if I could make something, without hesitation the answer would be “Of course!” Then came the chance / opportunity / riddle of figuring out how. This trailblazing spirit, along with a two-year course in cabinetmaking at Long Beach City College, has led to a solid foundation in the Craft of Woodwork. The people who have trusted me to accomplish their projects have helped me grow as a craftsman. To the point, now when I am asked if I can, the answer is a very confident “Absolutely!”

Nestled in the countryside of the Sierra Foothills, my focus is expressing my artistic voice. Whether making custom furniture for you or selling my own designs, I want to be able to put my personal stamp on the project, transferring the artist’s feelings into the piece.
